Samenvatting

Neonatale hemochromatose (NH) is een zeer zeldzame aandoening, maar een van de meest voorkomende oorzaken van neonataal leverfalen. Wij presenteren een neonaat met ernstige lever- en nierfunctiestoornissen, die overleed door cardiorespiratoire insufficiëntie. Bij obductie bleek er sprake te zijn van NH. Het beeld wordt gekenmerkt door intra- en extrahepatische ijzerstapeling. Dit komt klinisch vooral tot uiting door tekenen van leverfalen. De diagnose wordt vaak pas bij obductie gesteld.
