Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk komen de filosofische en neurobiologische grondslagen van het denken over de verhouding tussen lichaam en geest aan de orde. Ik bespreek kort de verschillende uitgangspunten van het monisme en het dualisme, de fenomenologie, het enactivisme en de somatische-kaartentheorie van Damasio. Mijn uitgangspunt is dat van het enactivisme: het lichaam is niet los te denken van een omgeving waarin het individu handelend optreedt.
