samenvatting

Adequate voeding is een belangrijk aspect van de zorg voor ernstig zieke kinderen. Goede voeding is essentieel voor volledig herstel en normaal functioneren van het opgroeiende kind. Meer en meer wordt duidelijk dat het van belang is om inzicht te krijgen in de stofwisseling en de hormonale regelsystemen van het ernstig zieke kind om adequate voedingstherapie te kunnen toepassen. Daarnaast is kennis van energieverbruik en stikstofuitscheiding van een ernstig ziek kind onontbeerlijk. Evenzo wordt steeds duidelijker dat voeding, evenals andere aspecten van intensive care, maatwerk is.
