This special section focuses on an important topic – fostering driving abilities for individuals on the autism spectrum. Driving is important for many reasons – it gives adults more independence and greatly expands their vocational opportunities. Challenges for driving in autism arise from several factors. These include the significant social component driving, the significant executive function skills involved, and the need to modify rules/strategies based on conditions and the behavior of other drivers (Gliga et al., 2022; Fok et al., 2022; Bishop et al., 2022). The papers in this section contribute to the growing literature on this topic. …
