Een patiënt met asbestose, chorea en neuropsychiatrische symptomen

Samenvatting

Een patiënt met bekende asbestose en eerder optredende chorea werd opgenomen vanwege sociaal onacceptabel gedrag en toenemende mobiliteit- en geheugenstoornissen. Bij lichamelijk onderzoek bestonden er geringe neurologische afwijkingen. Op grond van aanvullend onderzoek (o.a. CT-hersenen en PETscan) werd de waarschijnlijkheidsdiagnose beginnende M. Alzheimer gesteld. Patiënt werd twee maanden later met een delier bij pneumonie heropgenomen. In de literatuur zijn bij patiënten met asbestblootstelling vage neurologische aandoeningen beschreven. Een associatie met asbest kon bij deze patiënt niet gelegd worden. Een aanpak wordt beschreven voor asbestose patiënten en neurologische en/of psychiatrische klachten.
