As an educator and practioner in the field of autism and behavior disorders for 29 years and currently pursuing a doctoral degree in special education, I have been intrigued with the possibility of using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) models with persons diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. Given my interest in CBT, I chose the article authored by Pardini et al. (2011) for a class assignment that involved critically reviewing the research to determine if CBT met the criteria for an established or emerging evidenced based practice. …
