Language and Autism: Applied Behavior Analysis, Evidence and Practice follows the first book edited by Peter Sturmey and Adrienne Fitzer; Autism Spectrum Disorders: Applied Behavior Analysis, Evidence, and Practice. The previous book provided one chapter on language acquisition in individuals with ASDs, while this second book expands considerably on the language deficits of individuals with pervasive developmental disorder and the applicability of treatment of the deficits using applied behavior analysis (ABA). This book’s chapters are written by a variety of different leaders in the field of speech therapy and ABA. Each chapter is written for a reader with a slightly different level of expertise; thus, some chapters are easier to follow for an individual with less training in this area. Despite the variable complexity of information presented, overall this book provides a clear description of a specialized form of treatment for ASD individuals with language deficits. …
